Vernon Fletcher

I was born in one of the most beautiful parts of South Africa, the Eastern Cape. As a youngster I had the advantage of being surrounded by natural beauty.

When I was a young boy, while watching sport and while venturing outdoors, I always wanted to capture those special moments, but unfortunately, due to affordability, this dream couldn’t materialise.

Years passed and the “photography itch” just never disappeared, but thinking it was an expensive hobby; from the purchasing of the camera to the developing of the film, once again, I put photography on a backburner.

Approximately 6 years ago, shortly after the Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) cameras were introduced, I realised this would be my opportunity to take photography seriously.
I studied photography at a private school in Pretoria and the rest of my knowledge I gained through experience.

My first camera was a Fuji Finepix S3000 and within a few days of using it, realised that I needed something somewhat more advanced and was lucky enough to take the camera back and have it swopped for the Fuji Finepix S7000 (6 megapixel). Within a few months I wanted to advance a bit more so I subsequently acquired the Nikon D70 DSLR, Canon 20D, Canon 400D. I have a personal preference for Canon equipment.

Canon*EF 24-105mm f/4.0L IS USM, Canon*EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM,
Canon*EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM, Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens, Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens and the Sigma 50-500mm lens, as well as an established home studio.

My expectations when doing photography is to brighten up the lives of the people around me and those that I come in contact with.
I specifically enjoy photographing weddings and other special events. Watching and capturing all those happy moments is what makes me tick.
My photography is aimed across the board, all cultures and age groups. Besides specialising in weddings and special events, I have a passion for studio photography, whether it be children, adults, families, models (male and female), to portfolios.

My passion runs so deep that I make a point of carrying a camera with me at all times, to cater for those unplanned moments.

I will treat each task with the utmost sensitivity that is required.
